What to do with all this wood?? I know - a DIY project!

So we've had many trees cut down to clear out the backyard and my goodness, do we have lumber?! Of course, my artsy fartsiness {as Hunter so politely calls it} kicked in and I just couldn't help myself. I needed to do something with the wood!

Honestly, I didn't do anything big. But it still will make an appearance in my home. I'm going for a rustic country feel in my living room, so these wood pieces will go there.

Here's what they look like:

{isn't he a sweetie to help me?!}

I stained one and painted the other two. I wanted to do eathy colors, tis why I chose a pretty sky blue and a forest green. Once I've found a wall space for them and hung them, I will most certainly share with you folks.

My dad was sweet and made wood coasters for me.

People, use your resources rather than spending boocoo's of money. If you have some lumber lying around like we do, get creative! You never know what you may design.

Can we talk about last night's game?

WAAAARRRR EAGLE, HEY!!

Well my Tigers didn't fare as well as I had hoped they would, but a congrats to the FSU Seminoles. As always, I have always lived, breathed, bled, screamed, cheered, cried War Eagle and that will never change. I'm beyond proud of my Auburn Tigers for coming back from an awful season last year {and the year before...} and going as far as they went. Heck, they made it to the National Championships!

War Eagle Fight Song

War Eagle, fly down the field,
Ever to conquer, never to yield.
War Eagle, fearless and true.
Fight on you orange and blue.
Go! Go! Go!
On to vict'ry, strike up the band.
Give 'em hell, give 'em hell,
Stand up and yell, hey!
War Eagle, win for Auburn,
Power of Dixieland!

Savannah, GA

What a gorgeous place this is! As a surprise for Hunter's birthday, I treated him to a weekend away to the historical Savannah, GA. We have always wanted to visit this lovely town but never had an opportunity. Opportunity arose, and I took it! Check out some of the pictures from our trip.

Again, happy birthday Hunter! Love you!

Black bean salsa dip

Okay, let me preface this by saying there's A LOT of chopping in this recipe {well maybe not that much chopping, I'm just lazy}. But, there is no cooking involved and it's yummy nummy!

Here's what you will need:

2 cans black beans (rinsed and drained)
1 1/2 c. kernal corn
1 1/2 chopped red onion
3-4 chopped tomatos (depending on their size)
1 c. bell pepper chopped
1 diced avocado

To make the "dressing", for lack of a better word:

1/4 c. lime juice
1/4 c. cilantro chopped
2 T. olive oil
4 t. minced chipotle chilis
1 T. red wine vinegar
1 t. cumin

Chop/dice/cube (however chunky you like it) all veggies and place into a large bowl. Wisk and pour your dressing mixture over the veggies and stir. Refrigerate for a couple of hours to allow the veggies to soak the juice up. And yum  yum, it's ready! {We like to serve this dip with tostito scoops chips}

Enjoy!

Holla holla... It's Friday!

This week flew by at wicked lightning speed... That seems to be the case lately. Slow down a little time! It's a beautiful Friday folks - HFFF time!

1. It's a new year! New year, new beginnings, new goals... Happy happy happy! I hope 2014 brings ya'll many great things.

2. So with moving out, I've been packing and planning the layout of my house. This week, I re-established my Costco membership card. I fully believe in buying in bulk and stocking up on items like the Pioneer Woman does. I'm not a huge fan of grocery shopping {simply because I want EVERYTHING in the store, and I can't afford it} so minimal amount of grocery shopping that I have to do, means the better off everybody is.

3. My parents were so kind this Christmas to help me pay for some work to be done on my little Corolla. I dropped that baby off Thursday and she's running like a charm... Just in time for our trip to Savannah, GA this weekend!

4. Thursday Hunter and I had dinner with some of our very dear friends. I love these love birds!

5. It's Friday... What more can I say?!

Guess what I got for Chrimus?!

Dude, I'm officially onto the Birchbox wagon! I have been trying for a few months to get in with the company but that wait list is quite lengthy. Thanks to my sweet friend, Ashley, I have received the gift of Birchbox and can continue the product once my gift has expired. I'm so beyond excited to be afforded the opportunity to try these new products that will arrive via mail.

As always, I will share each month the products that come in my box. I'm sure there will be some things in there that I have no use for {hence, regifting} and there will be items that I just love! Either way, I will share.

If you want to learn more about Birchbox, check out their website at http://www.birchbox.com/
