Painting with a Twist!

Who doesn't love a good glass of vino, girlfriends, and silly attempts at painting and trying to make it look like a masterpiece? Last night was splendid!

The local Junior Women's Club decided to have a fun get together, while raising money. All proceeds went to Big Brothers Big Sisters club. Please enjoy the moment with us :)

Doesn't she look familiar??

Grateful Heart Monday's

It's that time of week again! Recharging and restarting a new week. Out with the old and in with the new, friends!

Monday's are hard to see in a positive light sometimes. They get that bad rep of being the worst day of the week, the day where everything just can't go right.

I don't know about ya'll, but my Monday's are looking peachy keen from where I'm siting on this Grateful Heart Monday!
  • My job can, at times, be very exhausting. But it is sooo rewarding. Last week, we had a long day (worked until 1 a.m. that night/morning/whatever) and then had to be back in the office at 8:00 a.m. Even though we were all tired, the ladies I work with were still laughing, making light of the situation, and just working together to get through the night. They are why I love my job so much. They make coming to work each day a pleasurable experience.
  • My family. I cannot express enough how much I love them. I am 1 of 4 siblings, the oldest obviously (lol). One of my brothers was home for a couple of days last week so it was nice seeing him and giving him a hug.
  • Books. I know, weird. But I am an avid reader and I love love love reading. I would totally take a good book over a movie any given day. Specifically on the beach, with a drink in my hand. Yes, I can see it now...
  • My faith. Corny, but true. Without faith, I am hopeless, bitter, and lost. Thank you God for loving me as I am- flaws and all!
I hope ya'll have had a fabulous, rested weekend. Hoping ya'll have a wonderful Monday, and speedy week!

Join me, and many others over at Ember Grey for another #ghm

Summertime Week #4: My mojo came back + H54F

Holy moly folks! Ya'll are getting a double whammy this lovely Friday. Hey, it's Friday and I'm feeling extra generous in my writing skills....

Let's start, first, with the Summertime Week series-

Last week, I confessed that my healthy-weight gaining techniques were put to to the way-side so that I could pig out on food and keep my bum perfectly planted on the couch because last week was just a crazy week.

But... It's back and in full force this week! I have been walking and grabbing more protein shakes rather than sweets.

Thanks to the encouragement of Hunter, my sweet co-worker and her husband, I have decided to put myself on protein shakes, again, to help me gain the needed weight. I did this a few years ago, but it didn't seem to stick. I'm back again, trying and hoping it'll work this time- I have a good feeling it will!

Hunter has been an awesome cheerleader. He's encouraging me to eat more, helping me cook healthy meals, and just overall being a great support system to lean on. God has blessed me with a great man!

Back to the protein shake... I've picked up Ensure at the grocery store and have started incorporating this into my already busy diet. Notice, I am not using this as a replacement- that would defeat the whole purpose. Thus far, it has only been a few days of drinking it so I'm obviously not going to see the results just yet. I will say this though: my energy levels are so much better! Thank goodness because we're about to kick it into high gear here at the Florida Capitol.

We have about 3 more weeks left on this series, so I'm sure I'll be able to share more thoughts on the protein shake idea as we progress. As always, thank ya'll for your encouragement and support!

-----------------------

Bring on that H54F!

1. I looked at the calendar the other day and realized we had exactly 1 month left of Sessions. Even better, the Senate recognizes Holy Week during April. Therefore, we only have 3 weeks! Hang onto ya britches sister!

2. As ya'll may have read, I am currently redoing some things in our master bedroom. Earlier in the week, I purchased the art piece that will go on the wall behind the bed. It's simple, but I love it! Once it arrives in the store, and I can pick it up, I'll surely share with ya'll!

3. Okay, I honestly have the BEST parents a girl could ask for! Yes I'm biased but I'm sticking with my statement. During Sessions, they have been helping Hunter and I out with watching Jep during the day. We call it "Manny Daycare" because Jep is able to spend allll day playing with his big brother Manny. Aren't they just presh??

4. It's spring in Florida. And my skin is happy for the vitamin D.

5. This is kind of a long post so... Adios babes! Have a fabulous weekend!

That moment when...

Okay, I just have to take a pause here for a moment and gush.

Yesterday, I was entirely humbled and flattered by surprise. Sweet Anne from Love the Here and Now participates in a weekly link-up called Cheers Not Jeers. I visit her adorable blog on a daily basis folks, and when I made my usual trip to her corner of the Internet yesterday, I was so pleasantly surprised.

Her kind words were wonderful and reminded me why I have come to love the blogging world so much. The ladies I have met and formed friendships with has truly been rewarding.

When I first started this blog, I did it as an outlet to share my life song. A place where friends and family could keep up with me and my busy lifestyle. I never expected to meet such fabulous women! God has truly blessed me with your friendships.

So to Anne, and all the ladies out there who have taken the time to get to know me and as I get to know you, thank you. Thank you for your kind words. Thank you for your sweet hearts. And most of all, thank you for your friendships.

Master Bedroom Renovation

Last week, I shared with ya'll some updates on the home tour I've been showcasing. Ha! I sound like a realtor!

With the last 3 bedrooms not being quite ready to show, I decided to slow it down a little and let ya'll in on how each room is doing  during the renovation. Maybe it'll inspire somebody to try something in their home!

Starting with the master bedroom- frankly, because it's where I sleep and I'm a spoiled brat and want my room done first... Lord I sound like that little snot of a girl from Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory:

"I want a pony and I want it NOWWW!"

Back on topic, we worked "tirelessly" to repaint one of our walls as an accent wall. Here's how it looks (minus wall art that I have found):

Patching up where Jep ate the wall...

Helper #1

Helper #2

One side of the wall (sorry it's so dark!)

The other side of the wall

I have found the perfect thing to put on the wall behind the bed. I cannot wait to share it with ya'll!! Big shout out to my sister and mom for telling me about this mystery piece... Come on back to see what it is next week!

Ulta trip

Earlier last week, I consulted my all-knowing make-up guru fraaanndd for some tips on making my face look more alive. Especially during Sessions.

Ashley really does know her stuff and we decided to take a little field trip to Ulta to see what we could snag for my face.

I was looking for a few things:
  • A moisturizer to "brighten" my face
  • Concealer that will actually work
  • A primer to also help brighten my face and hold my make-up in place
Putting in long hours in the Capitol can definitely take it's toll on my face (having to wear make-up for longgg hours) so I wanted to make sure that my skin is getting the nourishment it needs during this time. Plus, we're stepping into warm, sunny weather here in Florida and I want to make sure my skin is "summer ready" of course!

I'll have a post about these 3 items in particular: what I bought; what I think about them; and if they're worth your money/time. So stick around folks!

**There may be a make-up tutorial in the works with these new additions to show ya'll how they are used and the final results. I can't wait to share!
