Wednesday Wishes + Link-Up

• I wish we could stop at Chick-fil-A.
• I wish and hope that Hunter had a good week at home, holding down the fort. I absolutely missed him! Distance makes the heart grow fonder, ya'll.
• I wish I could get in quicker with the hair stylist... My brown hair is boring me!
• I wish I could see into the future sometimes. There are some big things heading our way, and I just wish I could see the outcomes. Woe is me!
• I wish and hope my house sells quickly once I can put it on the market.
• I wish for safe travels home. And for sanity, because it'll be a long bus ride with some rowdy kids.

Have ya'll had a splendid week? I have loved being away, but I am ready to get back to normal... but with a raging fire in my heart to change my community!

Let's BBQ!

With summer here and the warm weather all around us, I can't help but day-dream about my patio/deck/BBQ place once Hunter and I are able to move to Quincy and establish these dreams. It's funny how things work out sometimes... Hunter's grandmother's house is for sale and I just adore it.

Her house is quaint, country-styled, and has been in the family for several, several years. With her passing just shy of 3 years ago, the home has been up for sale and is currently being rented. We've always wanted to keep her home in the family, and now with our plans moving forward to relocate to Quincy, we can't help but want her house.

It has the original wood floors, brick fireplace, and a front porch that is perfect for some rocking chairs. With the purchase of this house, we will be doing some rennovations to it - completely redoing the bathroom, the kitchen, and enclosing the backyard with a fence. Now we're mulling around the idea of building a deck area for grilling out along the backside of the house.

Of course, as any insane woman would do, I went straight to Pinterest for ideas. I couldn't help it ya'll! Here are some of my favorites, that also coincide with what I have in mind...

#GratefulHeartMonday's

are on fire for the Lord and it's so refreshing. As they meet new friends, experience grace in all forms, and learn to help others, they are growing into God-fearing individuals. It does a youth leader's heart good I tell ya!

I'm grateful that we can continue to be with them once we return from this mission trip, to inspire and keep the burning fire of faith aglow. I never want them to lose that fire!

I'm grateful for the opportunities that me, Hunter, and any others willing to join us, have to be able to help our community. We can show people love, hope, and respect... and those deeds will spread like wildfire.

Before you know it, an entire community can be changing the next community over. Then those communities can be inspiring the state. Then the state to the nation. Then the nation, to the world. It'll be one big ole ball of love!

Never give up hope on changing someone else's life. You never know the rippling impacts it may have.

11 Random Facts:

• I hardly walk barefoot in the house but I have no problems being barefoot outside.
• I'm very much like a lizard - I LOVE being in the sunshine.
• I'm 3.5 years older than my fiance, Hunter. Cougar, baby!
• Black cars/SUV's/trucks are my favorite. Something about them being black is so sleek to me.
• I prefer to be outdoors - at the beach, by the pool, on a front porch, in a deer stand... Kind of going back with the second bullet point.
• My degree is in marketing and I work in the political world - whodathunk??
• Furthermore, I love my job!
• If you haven't gathered it already... I love to fish and hunt. And Hunter loves that I like to fish and hunt.
• Mine and Hunter's first date was to the movies. He tried to hold my hand, I wouldn't let him. God is my witness, I truly thought the boy had a girlfriend because he was just so dang nice, I thought he honestly couldn't be single. I was so so wrong.
• I'm an alpha female and super protective of people I love and care about. So if you mess with one of them, you can bet your bottom dollar I'll make it known that I'm not happy. Many of my prayers involve the following statement: "Lord I pray for a quiet tongue, a quiet heart, and a quiet mind."
• I love Jesus :) 

 

Anne's questions for me:

1. What does your ideal day look like?
• Either relaxing by some body of water with a drink in my hand, or sitting in a tree stand with Hunter. Either way, if I'm outdoors doing something then I'm a happy girl.
2. What is your favorite flavor ice cream?
• Ya'll, chocolate ice cream with marshmallows and chocolate chips in it. Or just simple mint chocolate chip. Chocolate is the key word here!
3. How did you come up with your blog name? If you've posted about this already share the link!
• Well, being from the south, I'm very proud of my southern roots and thrive on being a southern belle. I chose to make it "Komfort" with a "K" because a) there's an alcoholic beverage out there called Southern Comfort... No need to confuse me with the liquor; and b) My name starts with K, Komfort starts with K, get it? Eh eh? Either way, it works for me!
4. Favorite childhood memory?
• The multitudes of adventures that my siblings and I shared. I'm one of 4, so we always found something to do, or to get into.
5. What is the best job you have had?
• This is so cliche, but the job I have now is honestly the best one I have had. I absolutely love my boss and the ladies I work with (we're like family). The work atmosphere is wonderful, and I honestly learn something new all the time here. It's a very interesting job with many perks!
6. What is the worst job you have had?
• I truly don't want to call out any names or business names but I can say this... It was awful. Surprisingly, I found out that Ashley also worked for this woman some years after I did and she can attest... It's awful. Just the lack of respect and professionalism was gagging.
7. Favorite season and why?
• Summer - I'm a Florida native so duh!
8. What is the best book you have read in the past year?
• The Shack - it was phenomenal! You can also check out my list of Top 10 books that I have read recently to see if anything looks interesting to ya'll.
9. What is your favorite app that you can not live without?
• Instagram. Need. More. Pitchas!!!
10. Did you ever learn another language? If so, which one(s)?
• I learned 4 years of Spanish and loved it! I had every intention to minor in Spanish in college, but funds and patience had left the building. I can honestly say though, in the 1 week of being in Honduras for mission work, I learned more in that 1 week than I ever learned in the 4 years in school. It's just so different once you get there and you learn to speak their lingo.
11. You have the day to yourself. What is the first thing you choose to do? 
• Sit by the pool and relax. So serious right now. Oh, and get a Starbucks coffee while having my biscuits (feet - I'm southern, that's what I call them) done.

High Five, It's Somehow Friday

 

Throwback Thursday Link-Up

It's another Throwback Thursday ya'll! Each week, me and a couple of other wonderful southern gals are getting together to reminisce on times in each of our lives, and sharing them with ya'll. All the deets are below to join in on the fun!

This week, I'm kicking back to my very first blog post. Talk about awk-sauce!! Hey, I was new to the whole blog thing. What can I say? I've learned quite a bit as this here bloggy has grown over the last few months.

I bring to you... My first post ever:

A peek inside my life

Anytime I come across a blog, I immediately refer to the "About" tab of that blogger to see if we have similar interests or if they could be someone that I can relate to {{we could become BBFF's- Blogger Best Friends Forever}}. As I'm sure that I'm the only one that does that (note sarcasm), here are some tidbits, if you will, about me.

1. Where are you from?

I am proud to say that I was born and raised in Tallahassee, FL and currently reside here now. Not many people can say that they have lived in one place their entire lives (and enjoyed it), and I'm proud to be part of the small statistic that says they have. Granted, I have noticed lately that Tallahassee seems to be getting "a little too big for me" so I may be moving to the outskirts of Tallahassee. I'm a small town girl at heart!

 

2. What do you do for fun?

Oh goodness, what do I do?! Ha! I love spending time with my family and friends (I truly have some of the best friends a girl could ever ask for - then again, I'm biased). I also enjoy spending time with my boyfriend. We have been together for quite some time now and he truly is the peanut butter to my jelly. I also love to craft (you will be seeing A LOT of DIY home projects on my blog), cook, hunt, shop, and just living each day like the blessing it is. I also help with our middle school and high school youth groups in my church. I LOVE my kids! Teenagers are at such an awkward stage and it's so fun to help mentor them into leading positive, godly lives.

What to expect when you're expecting + Wednesday Wishes

Wake up and smell the linoleum floors, Kelly.

We sat down with a lovely associate, went over information, giggled and oooh'ed and aahhh'ed. Then she kindly said, "We're not like other stores where we just give you the scanner and let you run free."

Screeching tires

Us: "Wait... what?"

Sales associate: "No, I'll be walking with you through the store to help you better manage your time."

My thoughts: Okay, whatever lady. No biggie, you lead us through, we'll scan some things, no bridal meltdown needed here.....

People, I kid you not when I tell you, the whole process took 4 hours. Read it, 4 hours. And we only got 2/3 of the store done!! That's when the bridal meltdown came. Not by muah, but by Hunter. Yes, ladies, my strapping fellow of 6'4, 250 lbs., all football muscle, had a minor meltdown.

*Snickers... Look who bridezilla is now!*

Rightfully so - he was tired, had been drug through a store, and was hangry (hangry: anger when hungry). So I had the associate wrap it up quickly with the section we were in, scheduled to come back alone Thursday to complete the process, and briskly left the store with my diva falling apart. Bless his heart, he really is a trooper.

Am I going back Thursday to finish? Ya'll are sprayed roach crazy if you think I'm going back in there to be led around again. Thank you sweet baby Jesus for the world of online registry. Thus, I have cancelled my appointment for Thursday, completed the rest of the registry online (who knew I had half a brain and could do this myself?!), registered with Target online, and all at the comfort of my desk.

So some tidbits for any of my bride-to-be friends:

+ If registering in the store, wear a good set of shoes, comfy clothes, and bring snacks

+ If registering in the store, do not think you're being a snot by telling the associate, "No, I don't need a sausage maker because we hunt and have our meats processed." (Our associate was vegetarian/vegan/didn't believe in eating meat - no judgement- so she was shocked at our lifestyle)

+ If registering in the store, do not get mad at your husband-to-be for wandering away from you. He's not interested in this. Trust me, he's only there because you drug him there. If he says he's interested, he's lying.

+ For the love of God, just register online. I'm very much a visual creature so online was somewhat hard for me, but by golly they have pictures and tons of details online. Just save yourself the trouble.

I hope these stories and tidbits have been helpful in some way. I did talk to friends later who said they were able to run wild in Bed Bath & Beyond, without the assistance of an associate. Maybe what happened to us was because of a new store policy. Maybe she was trying to make money. Or maybe we just looked like a bunch of confused folks. Nevertheless, ya'll enjoy the moments you have during the planning process! Hunter and I have laughed non-stop about the whole adventure!
