3 Southern Girls Link-Up: 8-legged freaks

Image MapI've mentioned before that I am deathly afraid of spiders. SO afraid that I've nearly wrecked, streaked out of a shower in my birthday suit for the world to see, and I've even called Hunter crying hysterically because the little 8-legged freak was on the inside of the windshield while I was driving.

And these little turds are never small. Nooooo.... they're the kinds that would eat an entire human if I gave them the chance.

With that being said, I decided to dig in the old blogger files and find that ever-amusing story of my encounter with an 8-legged freak. Ugh, even typing this makes my skin crawl.

---------------------------------------------------------

Ya'll...
I have a confession to make. If you don't already know, I'm deathly afraid of spiders. I'm talking screaming, running for my life, I wouldn't make it in Fear Factor deathly afraid. Put me in a room with roaches... Yea they're gross, but I can handle it. I might even name the little guys.

But spiders. No sir. I don't do them.

I have no shame in admitting that I've called Hunter before, crying, because a spider was on the inside of my windshield while I was driving. It was absolutely traumatic.

I've always said God has a funny sense of humor. Man oh man, He sure was messing with me yesterday.

After leaving work, being the good girlfriend I am, I decided to drive to our Bass Pro here locally to exchange a shirt for Hunter. Traffic was awful so we weren't really moving. When pulling up to a red light, I see something brown skitter across the back, top of my steering wheel (by all the speedometer, gas gauge, etc.).

And I spot him. A tarantula of a spider. Okay, maybe not a tarantula, but my God he wasn't a little bitty fella. At this point, I may or may not have let out a whimper, squeal, ohhh maahhh gahhhhh sound. I'm pretty sure folks around me were videotaping me at this point.

I immediately reach over to my passenger seat to arm myself to go in for the kill. What do I grab? Not a shoe. Not a rolled magazine. No, I grab my Sweet Baby Ray's sauce from my lunch bag. I wasn't thinking at this point people and it was the first thing my hand grabbed!

Once I grabbed my ever-faithful weapon, I turn back... And you guessed it. He's gone. Want to scare the turds out of someone deathly afraid of spiders? Let them see the spider, and lose the spider. That'll send any nerve-wrecked soul into panic mode.

So I did just that. I freaked. I immediately U-turn into our mall parking lot, park, and sat and watched. And waited. And searched. The little freak was gone!

At this point, I started praying. Yes, laugh away people. But I had to get home. And God's sense of humor got me into this; by golly I would pray my way out of it. So I bravely got back on the road. I may have flinched and/or screamed a few times on the way home when a hair brushed me. I was on high alert! I was constantly looking around my steering wheel, partly hoping to God he'd come out so I could just bludgeon it to death. The other part of me hoping he was burning on my motor because, let's be honest, I probably would've wrecked if he made an appearance.

I finally made it home, and still haven't found the spider. I considered taking the bus to work today. I thought about driving Hunter's truck to work. I even contemplated walking to work. But I put my big girl panties on, drove to work today, and made it fine. It was a tense ride to work I tell ya.

And no. I didn't make it to Bass Pro to exchange Hunter's shirt. Spider- 1 point. Kelly- 0 points. Spider wins.

Moving Day

Yesterday started off like any ole day - woke up, went to work, got my usual coffee in (that's a must), read a few blogs. However, I left at noon yesterday to go to my house to start the packing and moving process.

If you recall from Friday's post, this move is happening kind of quick. So quick in fact that we need to be out by Thursday night/Friday morning.

Oh bless me.

But with the good help of my friend Kate and her many boxes, I was able to knock out quite a bit yesterday. I am taking off of work today though to finish up as much as I can before I can get the help of this good lookin' man to lift all of those boxes and heavier pieces of furniture.

With that being said, if you're reading this at any point in the day (even as early as 7:30am EST), I will be busy lifting, grunting, probably swearing - but trying not to, and praying to God that I can complete all of this today. Here's a small photo dump of yesterday's packing and moving...

Lining up things to store away

The few items being used to make our room feel like home

Hunting stuff + hard hat + Fred the deer

More storage stuff - thanks Kate for the boxes!

You can't tell but the entire back is loaded down, plus the front seat. Oh hey Fred!

Honestly, my only wish for today is that I could just wiggle my nose and everything would pack itself nicely, load itself into the car, and unload itself all neat and pretty in the storage area. I can dream right??

Weekend Recap + Blogger Love

Image MapThis past weekend, Hunter and I were able to escape reality for a little while to the beach. Mexico Beach to be exact (read: our heaven on earth).

We went with Hunter's family and stayed in a gorgeous condo with his aunt and cousins. There were many games of Phase 10 (basically Rummy), puzzles were constructed, Mango-Ritas were consumed (this was my favorite part), and beautiful walks along the shoreline to collect seashells all took place. And the best part of the entire weekend was the fact that I purposefully left my cell phone in the condo while we were out soaking up some sun rays.

It was glorious!!

Our last night there, Hunter and I sat on the deck and just talked about life while the sun was setting. We remininsced on our 3.2 years together, and talked about the future. Have you ever had that one person that you can just sit and talk to about God-knows-what for hours on end, and feel like your soul is at such peace? That's how our relationship is - we can just sit and talk for hours, or simply just sit quietly while the world passes us by, taking it all in together.

And of course, a small photo op was needed. Just because.

I decided to do the opposite of him

Now for that blogger love I know ya'll are waiting on... Drum roll please....

Is this not the most darling print ever?? Kelly with Patient Resilience (she's got a great name - ha!) has an eye and a knack for artistic and funky styles for digital prints. When Kelly contacted me about her artwork, I just couldn't help myself while I was in her Etsy shop - I loved all of them!

The item pictured above is part of a greeting card and gift tag set in her shop. Purple is one of my favorite colors so I'm swooning over the different shades in the flower. I can already see these babies playing a part in the gifts Hunter and I will be giving to our helpers in our wedding.

Not only is her Etsy shop so fun, her blog is such a refreshing read. Kelly's postive and uplifting spirit through her writing is just my kind of style. Thank you Kelly for being a great inspiration to many!

If you would like to purchase a fun design, Kelly is now offering 10% off ! Just use the coupon code SOKOBLOG and you're all set!

#Grateful Heart

What a wonderful weekend it was! Hunter and I were at the beach, enjoying cold brews, the sound of waves, and genuine family time with his family. We could not have asked for a better getaway! More of a recap on that tomorrow. But for now...

Thanks to Emily at Ember Grey, the woes of Monday's have become quite a thing of the past for me. I look forward to each and every Monday now because it's a new day in this life.

Talking about new... Can we talk about how thankful I am for this adorable little dress!!

Please note: I am not a fashion blogger... hence the bathroom shots. Plus, I didn't have my cameraman (read: Hunter).

It has pockets!

eShakti contacted me a few weeks ago with the offer to choose an article of clothing to my liking with the return of an honest review. I gladly accepted this wonderful offer!

Honestly, the minute I saw this dress I was smitten. I did the custom design to change the neckline, sleeves, and length of the dress. I love the idea of a white little summer dress - it shows off my tan nicely!

The material of this dress is so comfortable and breathable. I feel like I could wear this dress all day long and into the night - it's that versatile.

Starting now, any of my wonderful readers can hop on over to eShakti's website to shop around with a coupon code of "komfort" to receive 10% off of your purchase through 8/10/2014. You can't beat that!

Liebster Award

Every time I'm nominated for an award or appreciation of any kind, I'm beyond humbled, flattered, blushing the whole time, just all smiles at the love given. The good Lord knows I never ever thought I would really impact anybody through this blog.

I merely just thought this little space of the interwebs would be my journal so to speak. And a place for my mom to keep up with my daily doings... Hey mom!

So when I was nominated for the Liebster Award by Sweet, Sassy Southern Belle, I just couldn't contain the excitement. Thank you so much for the love!

There are varying versions of rules for this award but I'm going to stick to 11 random facts about me since SoKo has acquired a few newbies in the last couple of weeks - love all of my new bloggy friends!

1: First and foremost, if you're not aware that I'm getting married in October of this year, you must be under a rock. I honestly think I've beat this topic to death. Oh well... I've still got plenty more where that came from.

2: I have a God-awful fear of spiders. Like if there's a spider in the shower with me, I will jump out of there in my birthday suit, screaming like I'm being murdered which then causes one of my brothers to come running in to check on me, and sees me naked with no care in the world that all my goods are on display. Not that that's ever happened before....

3: I absolutely insist on being outside when and where I can. I work in an office all day, so being in the sunshine just makes me happy happy happy.

4: Yes, those last 3 words above were a Duck Dynasty reference. Don't hate. And if you think that those kinds of folks don't exist, bless your little heart. You just come on down to my neck of the woods to meet my family and you'll have your mind changed in no time.

5: I am the oldest of 4 kids: I have a 23 year old brother, a 20 year old brother, and an almost 16 year old sister. Both of my brothers are biological brothers and my sister is adopted from China. I love her more than my brothers but don't tell them I said that... #joking #loveallmysibs

6: I still live in the town I was born and raised in and I'm not in the least bit ashamed by it. I love that I love my roots and can still be successful and not the typical "oh you never left home to experience life" kind of person. Newsflash, life is what you make it no matter where you are.

7: Hunter (my fiance) and I are youth leaders to middle school and high school kids/teens in our church and we absolutely love it!! Yes, they're weird. But you were weird once too.

8: Sweet tea is my drug.

9: I hunt and fish and still manage to clean up good. I hate the stereotype that hunters/huntresses get - we're not all hicks. Maybe a few, but not all of us.

10: I'm hearing impaired (as well as one of my brothers, our mother and one of her brothers, and my deceased grandfather) and have been since I was born. I wear hearing aids in both ears and have no shame in it at all. It always cracks me up when people feel like they need to talk really slow and loud for me to comprehend! I can hear without the aids, but they just help clarify certain sounds and tones that I have difficulties with. It's a syndrome that runs on my mother's side of the family, and mine and Hunter's children have a 50/50 chance of getting this syndrome. Bring on the batteries!

11: Last but not least, I have been told by many (and I can believe it) that you will know exactly what I'm thinking based on my facial expressions. I have a very hard time hiding my excitement/wonder/irritation. It's something I'm learning how to control, especially when it comes to my irritation face...

I hope ya'll enjoyed these fun little facts about me and do me a favor... Go check out the lovely Sweet, Sassy Southern Belle. She's a hoot and such a sweetheart.

Have a fab weekend and I'll see ya'll Monday! I'll be doing my first (and probably only) fashion post.... Bless my heart, I know.

Just because he's presh to me

Friday, July 25, 2014

Hello, Friday

I know I'm saying this every single Friday but, ya'll seriously, the world's spinning faster. Maybe it's because so stinkin much has happened this week. I'm going to try to keep this at 5... I can't make any promises though.

1: First and foremost, Thursday I gave the signed paperwork to my realtor to allow her the rights to show my house for rental purposes (we'll get to selling later - that's a whole blog post all on its own). To back up some and hang on tight because it's about to get bumpy, Hunter and I had planned on moving out of our house end of December and move in with mom and dad for a few short months until we could get into the house in Quincy. After talking to my parents, they have offered to let us move back in now to save money, put the house up for rent now, then move to Quincy in May.

Ya'll still with me?

SO basically, Hunter and I are moving back home with my parents from August to the end of April, while my house is being rented out, and we can be in Quincy in May. All is peachy keen happy.

Back to the getting the signed paperwork to my realtor part. So I sent that to her and no less than 2 hours later, she texted me saying she's showing my house THIS AFTERNOON to an interested renter. She hadn't even stuck this house up on the interwebs because she is coming by my house today to take pictures!! I 'bout fell out ya'll when she texted me that. Thank goodness I didn't because I was currently holding an adorbs sweater on sale in Kohl's. Lord knows I didn't wanna pass out, bust my head, and bleed all over that cute sweater.

Yes, I bought the sweater. It was only $8, what fool wouldn't?!

Sorry for the rambling. In a nutshell, Hunter and I have to be completely moved out of our house in less than a week. I'm stressed. To the max. So if I don't respond to texts/emails/calls/snap chats... I'm busy lifting boxes and furniture.

2: To add to the stress of getting things moved out, but it's actually much needed, Hunter and I are going to the beach this weekend. Heellluuurrrrrrr sand in my pants! Gosh I cannot wait to have a margarita. Or a few. Don't judge me, I'm moving.

3: In case ya'll missed it, Hunter and I are officially offish. I know, whoa!

4: Today is one of my absolute dearest friends birthday!! Too bad I don't have Facebook anymore or my old pictures (they're on the laptop) because I would be pulling out the good ole pics of this sweet gal. Love you Kate and hope your day is as wonderful as you are!

5: This morning before work, I had this hot breakfast date. He was just mmm so delish, and the Chick-fil-A was pretty good too. Just take a look at this fella... Don't tell Hunter about this guy, ok?

Yes, that's Hunter with Manny

3 Southern Gals Link-Up: Our "Wedding Room"

As Hunter and I are getting closer and closer to our big day, it's always fun looking back at the pictures of our planning process. For example, with all of the wedding decorations coming together more and more, Hunter and I designated a room in our house to be the "wedding room."

Ladies, I did my absolute best to organize this room to be able to hold all of our decorations that we have been collecting over the last several months. Please feast your eyes on the goodies.

Recognize these?

It's a hot mess, and this isn't all of it. Some of our decorations are currently housed at my mother's house. As I look at these decorations though, they remind me of the day Hunter proposed and how unbelievably excited I was, and gives us so much hope of the coming days.

If you would like to join in on today's link-up, you can through here.

Wednesday Wishes

Have you ever just woken up in the mornings, looked at your spouse/significant other/dog/wall and thought... "Didn't I just say good night to you like 2 minutes ago??"

That's how I felt this morning. And many mornings actually. I am not a morning person, ya'll.

I can put on the smile and cheerful attitude but I'm slowly dying inside until about 10:30 am. Totes kidding about the dying inside part, maybe.

So my wish for this spunky Wednesday is that
  1. The clock would slow down a weeee little bit for me to get some extra shut eye
  2. Because 1. will never happen, I wish I could become a better morning person.
I would love to be that person that can just roll out of bed at o-dark-thirty to go work out, work on blog stuff, prepare gourmet breakfasts, whatever it is that person does. Alas, I cannot do that because I love my pillow way too much.

And my dog keeps my biscuits (feet) warm. It's a tough life, ya'll.
